Lexington Barbecue Festival takes place. Lexington is known as the “Barbecue Capital of the World,” with 20 barbecue restaurants in a town with a population of about 20,000. For the festival, an eight-block stretch of Main Street is closed to traffic, and 150,000 people attend to sample the more than 15,000 pounds of barbecue prepared by chefs. Named
